My name is Eric Heck and I am a woodworker based in Babylon, NY. I have always had a proclivity for building and creating but I really started to focus on refining my craft  in 2001 when I began my career as a high school woodshop teacher.

As a fierce defender of our dwindling natural resources, I am constantly working toward minimizing my footprint on the environment and the natural world around me. You'll find that many of my pieces have been constructed from found and re-purposed materials. In the same vein, I believe that every wooden artifact has a story to tell and every piece of viable lumber deserves a second chance. That’s why I focus on reusing and repurposing as much material as possible. Whether it's an old pallet or shipping crate, a piece of driftwood found on a Long Island beach or an old swing set that has brought joy to a childhood it can all be put to use and be given a new life  and a new purpose.

The first half of my life was spent in upstate New York, exploring the pristine shores of Lake Ontario. I’ve since relocated and now spend as much time as possible on the beaches of Long Island’s south shore.  My experience in these two very different watersheds has inadvertently helped to weave a nautically inspired theme throughout much of my work.
